Favorite Pokemon Picker

Following the Grass post, it's time for the Fire favorites! A shame Gen 9 is still not included, but Skeledirge is the only Mon there that had any chances to get into Top 12. Besides him, the only missing Mons are Camerupt, Tepig/Pignite, Braixen, Torracat and the Scorbunny line. Kanto ended up being the most represented region by far.

Since I felt I was a bit influenced by my current playthrough, I made another list and took a bit more time so I could vote for 50 pokémon in total.
Compared to the old list some pokémon dropped out of the Top 20, some even didn't make it in the Top 50 any more.

So, enough time has passed and it's a good moment to continue the Monotype awards, this time Water is the type.

Vaporeon needs no explanation.
Wartortle is a cute and angry turtle often forgotten in favour of the rest of the line. For me, it has the best design.
Omanyte line is Lord Helix meme, always liked it more than Kabuto line.
Spheal and Walrein come from me liking Ice mons in general and enjoying Stallrein in DPP and BW.
Corphish was awesome in anime, cute as a Mon and good in LC too.
Whiscash got me the most impressive SPL win last year in my last official team tour battle, so it earned the spot in this list.
Qwilfish is a Mon hard to obtain in-game and has low Stats. Yet, it has a great design and always manages to put work in-game and in competitive battles.
Mudkip is the best Hoenn starter and only Water starter that is my favorite in a generation (Fire won last 2 Gens, the rest are Grass types).
Poliwrath is a badass Mon that has been competitively viable in every Gen except IX (due to being Dexited), I like that endurance despite never being Top Tier.

Decided to do 10* per type. Didn't bother avoiding duplicates between them, but did limit to fully-evolved mons.
1675383684850.png

Pure Normal apparently represents too many types, not too few.
1675383828080.png

Multiple starters is an anomaly compared to the other starter types.
1675383926907.png

Blastoise misses out on the cannon convention.
1675383993977.png

If you'd stop restricting yourself to pikaclones, I wouldn't need so many legendaries here.
1675384050284.png

2.5 Steel types, just how nature intended.
1675384148770.png

Guess I was feeling nostalgic today, sometimes I prefer the big ice chunks instead. Also, I had regional forms off, so I didn't have the option of an Ice/Steel.
1675384270997.png

Valiant and Hands compensate for Lucario being such a failure as a Steel-type.
1675384391119.png

Might need to adjust my signature now that Spike Flower exists.
1675384442492.png

Shoutout to Sandy Shocks being the only past paradox to make the list at all.
1675384505843.png

Pidgeot got dropped here compared to on Normal. I guess I don't think of them as much as a Flying type.
1675384560745.png

RIP solgaleo, all other Psychic/Steel lines are present.
1675384680204.png

The distribution of secondary types almost looks sensible. Almost.
1675384779905.png

I like my defensive Rocks like I like my defensive everything: with lots of passive damage.
1675384880057.png

Shows how competitive this was that Blacephalon didn't make it.
1675384934977.png

Unlike the UBs which dropped two of the title legendaries, Miraidon shows up in a low-competition type to complete the set of future Paradoxes.
1675385050868.png

Is Ting-lu an honorary Steel objectmon like Dhelmise?
1675385125647.png

Yeah, couldn't stop at 10. Amusingly, the mon I have for Steel in my signature (where I'm avoiding duplicates) is at 5th.
1675385225412.png

I got to "nature spirit" eventually.

Gen 9 April update (Top 50, no repeat forms besides regional variants)

Bug type time!

Screenshot_2023-04-12-11-52-59-366_com.android.chrome.jpg

First type without an Eevee there, can be noted with the amount of small cute babies in the list to compensate.
Got to like Centiskorch after an impressive win it gave me in a 2020 tour, before that I prefered Frosmoth as the Galarian Bug (still like it, it narrowly missed the list).
Crustle is a Mon I use in Pokemon Unite a lot, just like Scyther (this one I always liked though, it has swords!).
Galvantula is a cute fluffy spider, it also has strong accurate Thunders.
People say Dustox is ugly, but I always liked it way more than Beautifly, it's also competitively and in-game better.
Finally, Vespiquen is one of the miriad Bug-Flying Mons but different from all of them in terms of concept and strategy, it also has 3 exclusive moves, I wish they had different effects though.

Honorable mentions go to Venomoth, Scizor, Heracross, Yanmega, Araquanid, Vivillon, Volcarona and Slither Wing, there was no place for all of them.

Hm, a pretty long time has passed since my last update and since both dlcs have dropped since I decided that now was the perfect time for an overhaul! Tho I think I'll have to spoiler it cuz it contains a mon not featured in any trailers from indigo disk...

"If you don't like me at my :dipplin:, you don't deserve me at my :hydrapple:"
I made sure to edit it a little so that only one form of a given mon appeared (otherwise it'd be a minior and Villon fest).
(Aw man I forgot regular sceptile...Uh, just ignore it and pretend armaldo is there.)

Hello, I’ve been redoing the picking process every month or so, this time I wanted to make a post on it.
I used the picker with Megas and regional forms turned on.

Here are the main reasons I like a Pokemon.
- How it looks. Is it cute or beautiful?
- If I think its competitive kit sounds cool
- If I've used it in-game

Stats
Normal: 3
Fighting: 3
Flying: 5
Poison: 2
Ground: 1
Rock: 3
Bug: 1
Ghost: 14
Steel: 2
Fire: 7
Water: 5
Grass: 6
Electric: 2
Psychic: 7
Ice: 4
Dragon: 6
Dark: 5
Fairy: 9

(Megas = Gen 6, Regional forms = nonoriginal gen)
Gen 1: 2
Gen 2: 3
Gen 3: 3
Gen 4: 2
Gen 5: 8
Gen 6: 12
Gen 7: 10
Gen 8: 4
Gen 9: 6

Ghost is my favorite type with Fairy as my second, so it is not surprising seeing them in the lead. Some types benefited from having multiple members of the same line making it. Ghost-Fire is probably my favorite type combo (Water-Fairy in second) so that it gave a big boost. I'm not surprised to see Ground, Poison, or Electric so low, but I am surprised to see Bug at one. I'm generally not a fan of the sandstorm types, I find them a bit boring. I do like some other bugs like Volcarona, Araquanid, or Swadloon, but they didn't make the cut.

Gens 6 & 7 leading is not surprising, as they are the first official gens I played. Gen 7 is my favorite gen too.

I've divided Pokemon into relative groups of how much I like them.

Mega Sableye
I don’t know what is it exactly, but I really like the shade of red of its huge gem. I also like the gremlin energy.
Regular Sableye was used in my UM Mono Ghost playthrough.
Pancham
I like how cute and tough it is. I like its pokedex entries, especially the ones where it starts grinning. X community playthrough member. It is one of two Pokémon I have merch for, a plushie in its case.
Leafeon
I like the balance between sharp and delicate. A Pokémon I might want to have IRL, since according to its Pokedex entries, it uses photosynthesis for energy and doesn’t fight unless it has to. I like its colors. The second one I have merch of, this time a figurine.
Primarina
I like how beautiful it is. I enjoy the typing and kit too. I also like the femboy vibes with 7:1 gender ratio. It was the star of my UM team.
Cinccino
I like its cuteness and scarves. It has been slowly climbing the ranks each picking. I like the cleanliness mentioned by the Pokedex. White 2 team member.
Oricorio
I’m a dancer, so I appreciate the dancer theme and ability. Baile is my favorite form with Sensu in second. UM team member
Aegislash
This used to be my number #1. When I was unsure what Pokémon was my favorite, I just clung to Aegislash. I like the typing, ability, stats, and overall kit it has. X & Mono Ghost team member.
Litwick
I think it’s adorable. Also former #1. I really like this line of haunted lighting fixtures. White & Mono Ghost team member.
Absol
One of the two Pokémon I remember from my first (it was unofficial) Pokémon game. I like the contrasting colors and the prophet of doom Pokedex lore. OR & X team member.
Lilligant
I really like the vibrant colors. Also Petal Dance + Own Tempo combo. White team member.

Tapu Fini
I like its kit, misty terrain in particular. I like both its regular and shiny colors.
Chi-Yu
The Treasures of Ruin is my favorite legendary quartet, and I like how powerful it is despite being the smallest member. The shiny is great and I like the scales and jade eyes.
Drizzile
I like its colors. The shiny is pretty good too. Shield team member.
Lapras
I like how intelligent and kind it looks. Crystal team member.
Espeon
My favorite details it has are the split tail and the forehead gem. I like how calm and mysterious it appears. Crystal team member.
Mega Audino
I like how soft, warm, and comforting it looks. I liked the False Swipe Gaming video on it. I wish it kept regenerator.
Chandelure
I like the colors and creepiness. Rip Shadow Tag. Same teams as Litwick.
Naclstack
Salt cure is a cool move. I like its shape and colors. I like how everyone in the line has the letters NaCl in their name. Violet team member.

A. Sandslash
I like the vibrant blue of its spikes. It’s cute.
A. Ninetales
Very beautiful and I like its kit.
Blacephalon
I liked its appearance in the TerminalMontage Ultra beast battle. I like the wackiness, and how bouncy it is.
Ribombee
It’s very cute, and Its shiny looks amazing. I’m happy it’s in OU this gen. Shield team member.
Iron Valiant
Cool name, I like how it’s based off two Pokémon, and how it plays with gender.
Dragonair
Very beautiful and elegant, also great shiny. The pearls and colors are wonderful.
Ceruledge
I like the signature move. The model with the swords out looks great. Violet team member.
Lunala
I like the aesthetic. Bats and moons, Shadow Shield, and the blood moon shiny are other reasons I like it.
G. Articuno
My favorite part of the original Articuno’s design was its tail. G. Articuno keeps the flow of the tail and makes the rest even more elegant. I like how it holds itself.
H. Zoroark
It is mainly here for its aesthetic. The colors look nice, and the hair(?) shape makes it more interesting. Normal/Ghost is a cool typing.
Mienshao
I have come to the conclusion that I like purple Pokémon during the process of writing these blurbs. I like its kit and how elegant it is. I want to use one in game, but besides X/Y it’s not really available early. And the evolution level is annoying too.
Appletun
I like Apple Acid. I think it’s cool how it can be a grass Pokémon resistant to fire. I like the food theme too.

Latios
On my original playthrough of OR (first official Pokémon game), it was a stand-in for Gallade (post 8th gym dawn stone :( ).This nostalgia is the reason for the highish placement.
Yveltal
I really enjoyed reading the Smogon dex entries for it. I think its kit is cool, especially Oblivion Wing.
Rotom
I like its prankster energy and its various forms. The levitate with electric combo makes for cool defensive typings. Heat is my favorite form.
Mimikyu
I like how the Pokedex tells the story of a forlorn and sad Pokémon. The disguise and backstory are great. Mono Ghost & Mono Shield Fairy team member.
Serperior
It has a really cool kit. Despite its weak attack stats, it can power itself up with Leaf Storm or use one of its many status moves like Glare. I like the shades of green and how regal it is. White 2 team member.
Meowstic
It's fun having two forms. I like both of them. One of the pokemon I used on the recent community X playthrough. Also like the cream yellow of its shiny.
Sigilyph
I like how it's based on the Nazca Lines. I've used it in White. I also think the magic guard-psycho shift set is cool.
Dragalge
Something about the Adaptability-Poison/Dragon combo makes me like it. Community X member.
Azumarill
I like the typing and the bright blue color. The bubbles look great, and so does the gold shiny.
Phantump
It's very cute. My favorite detail is its little arms. Mono Ghost & Community X member.
Garganacl
I like the colors of this line. Also Purifying Slat and Salt Cure. Same team as Naclstack.
Altaria
My first ever shiny. It's also one of the pokemon that comes to mind for the 'which pokemon would you want IRL?' question. I enjoy its Pokedex entries about how it soars and sings.

A. Raichu
It looks so friendly, the colors are nice, and the pancake lore is cute.
Trevenant
I really enjoyed using it in the Community X playthrough. I wish it had better stats. It's cool how it's a trade evolution that is usually available without trading. The shiny looks gorgeous.
Pecharunt
My main exposure to it has been from reading DetectiveTogekiss’s Scarlet Grass run, and it intrigued me. I like ghost types and its stat spread is cool.
Sylveon
The colors look amazing together. I like how friendly and soft it looks. It can sooth people with its ribbons. X team member.
Amaura
This line is just beautiful. Community X member.
Zygarde
Like Yveltal, I enjoyed reading the Smogon dex entries. I like the hexagons in its design.
Lampent
The middle member. I like its arms and the center location of the flame. Same teams as Litwick & Chandelure.
Umbreon
I like its title (the moonlight Pokemon), the yellow rings go well with the black coat. I like the sleekness too.

Thanks for reading!
